410 BREAST IMPLANT - PRIMARIES

These photographs are intended to help you get a general sense of Dr Teitelbaum's aesthetics and the surgical results he has achieved with the Natrelle Style 410 breast implant. This is the first of the so-called gummy bear breast implants, which are also referred to as the form stable or highly cohesive breast implants. At some point while looking at these photos, you will realize that the outcome is largely determined by the way that patient looked before surgery:

-Thin patients with visible ribs will look different than patients with more tissue.

-Young patients with very tight and firm breasts who never have had children or weight shifts will have a different outcome than someone starting out looser, softer, and certainly any droopier.

And so on. The point is not just to look at the result itself, but to look at the improvement relative to the way the patient began. It is impossible to tell you exactly how you will look after surgery. But if you search for photos of patients who start out with a similar body type to yourself, you may get some idea.

410 BREAST IMPLANT - ASYMMETRY

No breasts match. But there are some breasts in which the difference is sufficient that special attention must be given to them during surgery. In simple cases of pure volume differences between the breasts, different sized or shaped implants can be used. When the nipples are at uneven heights or of uneven sizes, some type of a lift can be done to make them more equal. If one or both breasts are droopy, a lift can help raise them to a more youthful position. Gummy bear breast implants such as the Style 410 highly cohesive breast implant come in a very wide range of sizes which gives the surgeon more options to use the breast augmentation as an opportunity to reduce breast asymmetry.

410 BREAST IMPLANT - CONSTRICTED/TUBEROUS

Just as some breasts are so loose that the skin needs to be tightened, so too are there breasts that are so tight that the tissue needs to be released on the inside so that it can expand and take on a more beautiful shape.

These situations represent a special challenge for the surgeon, and gummy bear breast implants such as the Natrelle 410 implant is ideal for these circumstances. Unlike a standard gel implant which itself gets shaped by the tight breast, the form stable filler of the 410 implant can impart its shape upon the breast, resulting in a more controlled and significant transformation of the underlying shape of the breast.

410 BREAST IMPLANT - LONG TERM USE/OVER TIME

The ideal breast implant shouldn't just create a beautiful shape for the short term: a wonderful appearance should last for many years. While it is impossible to quantify this point, results with gummy bear breast implants appear to stay beautiful for many years. This may be a consequence of the more cohesive filler, which makes the implant less likely to be distorted by the body and to therefore change its appearance over time. We expect that breasts will change over time. Hormonal fluctuations, weight gains and losses, pregnancies and gravity all will make the breasts look different. But the overall shape and balance of breasts augmented with the Natrelle 410 appear to hold up very well for a long time into the future.

410 BREAST IMPLANT - AFTER MASTECTOMY

Because gummy bear breast implants such as the Natrelle 410 breast implant has a natural shape, a soft feel, and resists folding, it is an ideal breast implant to use for reconstruction after mastectomy.After a mastectomy, the remaining skin and tissue is very thin. The shape and characteristics of the implant therefore becomes very important. Subtle differences in shape can profoundly influence the shape of the breasts. Any folds of the shell are readily visible through the thin tissue.The Natrelle 410 comes in 12 different teardrop shapes for any given volume, thereby allowing the surging the ability to select from a wide variety of options in order to find an implant that looks the best for the patient.And because of its cohesive, "gummy-bear" filler, they are less likely than other implants to have visible folds or ripples. Many patients who have have earlier breast reconstructions with other implants have returned to be upgraded to 410 implants, and obviously many women getting reconstructions for the first time can be well served using the Natrelle 410 implant.

410 BREAST IMPLANT - SCARS

Dr. Teitelbaum has traveled around the world teaching other surgeons how to use gummy bear breast implants. In addition, he has listened to presentations by many of his international colleagues. While the Natrelle 410, the Mentor CPG, and the Sientra highly cohesive breast implants have been placed through the inframammary (under the breast) incision, the transaxillary (through the armpit) incision, and through the periareolar (around the nipple) incision, most of the best breast surgeons highly experienced with the gummy bear breast implants prefer the underneath incision. The scar usually ends up quite hidden under the breast (unless otherwise noted, all of the photographs of Nastrelle 410 patients on this website used the under the breast incision. It does need to be a bit longer in order to allow these highly cohesive implants to be inserted without damaging them, but for many women the advantages of this implant make this trade-off well worthwhile.

410 BREAST IMPLANT - REVISION OF PRIOR BREAST AUG/SECONDARY

Many patients are excited about the possibility of using gummy bear breast implants such as the Natrelle 410 breast implant for revision surgery. After all, it has a more natural tear-drop shape, it is the least likely of any implant to develop a capsular contracture, and its form stable filler minimizes the likelihood of folds and ripples.But since the 410 implant is thin at the top and thick at the bottom, it must maintain a proper orientation in the body to look correct (a round implant would look the same if it rotated in the body.) Therefore, 410 implants must be used cautiously in revisions. These are a few examples of the type of outcomes that can be attained with the 410 in revision.

410 BREAST IMPLANT - WITH LIFT

While we can try to correct differences in volume with different sized implants, if there is a different in the size or height of the areola, or in the overall amount of skin of the breast, performing a lift is an option to increase symmetry. There are many different kind of breast lifts. The choice of the lift depends upon the shape of the patient's breasts. Sometimes a patient will choose a lift that offers a less ideal shape, but has less scar than a lift that gives a better shape. The following are representative examples of doing lifts in conjunction with using the Natrelle 410 breast implant. Dr. Teitelbaum has experience using other types of gummy bear breast implants, such as the Mentor CPG and the Sientra implant to achieve similar results.
