Recreating the good initial results of the Replicon while avoiding its later problems became the passion of Dallas plastic surgeon John Tebbetts (shown on right while visiting Dr. Teitelbaum’s surgery center in 2006.)
During the late 1980s and early 1990s, Dr. Tebbetts searched for a way to do two things: 1) create a predictable breast implant shape, and 2) create breast implant longevity.
His research showed him that those had a common solution: a form-stable filler.
A form stable filler could be depended upon to create and maintain a shape. And by maintaining a shape, it would not collapse and fold. By preventing the folds, the implant shell would be less likely to break. And if it were to somehow break, the relatively more form stable gel would have less of a tendency to migrate.
