COHESIVE GEL BREAST IMPLANTS

This is a standard silicone gel breast implant that is available today. The shape of the implant, the amount of upper pole fill, and its tendency to fold or collapse is related to the pressure placed upon it when it is in the body. Obviously, none of these examples exactly represents what will happen in the body. But the point is to recognize that the final shape of the implant will be dictated by forces in the body, and that is unpredictable. Also notice that though the example in the lower right has no folds, it also does not look like a natural breast, and has a someone bulgy look to the upper breast. While some women involved in “adult entertainment” might like this look, this is not what most women would refer to as “the natural look.” Note that the examples on the top do have relatively more natural upper poles, but also notice how there is some degree of shell folding that must occur for the implant to take that shape. Those folds may be visible in thin women with little tissue covering the implant, and they also may be felt. And again, they are a potential area of weakness of the shell.
