Dr. Rita Moorman

Dr. Rita Moorman

Dr. Moorman graduated from Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans at the top of her class. She then completed an Internal Medicine internship at Mount Auburn Hospital in Boston and her Anesthesia residency at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Both facilities are major teaching hospitals of Harvard Medical School. Dr. Moorman was then an Instructor in Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School before relocating to California. She was Director of Anesthesia and Chief of Cardiac Anesthesia at Long Beach Community Hospital for many years before joining Dr. Teitelbaum as his full time Director of Anesthesia.

Dr. Moorman and her two colleagues each have more than 20 years experience as anesthesiologists, are all Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, and are all ACLS certified. In addition, Dr. Moorman voluntarily obtained a Certificate of Recertification from the American Board of Anesthesiology. Our anesthesia team has the safety and comfort of our patients as a top priority and use state of the art anesthesia techniques and equipment, including BIS monitoring.

Exceptional Nursing Team & State-of-the-Art Equipment

The nursing team is always intentionally over-staffed. All nurses have extraordinary plastic surgery experience with strong backgrounds in hospital operating rooms or intensive care units.

Dr. Teitelbaum's standard team includes a scrub tech who has exclusively worked in plastic surgery for over twenty-five years. In addition to her professional talents, she has scrubbed with Dr. Teitelbaum for over ten years and can anticipate everything that he needs.

There is always an RN (registered nurse) circulating in the operating room and another RN in the recovery room. Each of them have over twenty years of plastic surgery experience. A third highly experienced RN prepares patients for surgery and provides breaks for the other RNs so that everyone is fresh and rested.

To compliment the quality of the team, the operating equipment is of the highest caliber: the latest anesthesia machines, monitors, and "brain-mapping" devices are used. These machines keep you closely monitored, ensuring that you are fully asleep at all times and that all your vital functions are healthy.

Regarding the choice of anesthetic medicine, our anesthesiologists use whichever drug will give a patient the safest treatment and fastest recovery for their body. This choice can sometimes lead to increased cost, but our patients report a much better experience with anesthesia compared to their experiences elsewhere.

Every product that Dr. Teitelbaum and his team uses is selected for its highest quality. From equipment all the way down to sutures and gauze, Dr. Teitelbaum works with the very best materials available in order to maximize his patients' potential.
