As different as the moderate and the high profile implants appeared to be when they were lying on their side, each is malleable enough to fit into the same space. Meanwhile, the form stable 410 maintains it’s width and height; it cannot be forced into the glass. This slide demonstrates a number of important issues about these different types of implants. It shows that implant sizing and pocket dissection, while important for all implants, is particularly critical for the form stable implants. If a form stable implant is wider or taller than the breast, it will not merely collapse behind the breast, but it will be visible beyond it. If the pocket is not accurately dissected, the implant is incapable of molding much around the irregularity; rather, it will have a bulge or not lay flat. Though malleable, the standard implants can be molded into any shape dictated by the forces put upon them by the surrounding tissue; these implants will add volume, but they cannot be expected to add shape with any degree of predictability.
