Here is a Style 410 implant with the shell peeled off. Note that the implant maintains its shape with the shell totally removed! This shows that the form stable gel filler is cohesive enough to maintain its shape on its own, without any shell to hold it into place. Even standing up with the force of gravity, it still maintains its shape. And though no implant will ever be shown to be unable to leak, the integrity that this gel shows without an implant surrounding it provides patients with some peace of mind that shell disruption – which is unlikely to occur anyhow – would be of little consequence.. So while the term cohesive and form-stable get recklessly thrown about, remember that this is what it really means to be form stable.
