If you have significant fine lines or coarse wrinkles of the skin, you may be a candidate for laser resurfacing. Time and the sun cause aging and photoaging of the skin. The skin looses its vibrant appearance and becomes dull. Sun spots and age spots appear. Laser resurfacing can vaporize thin controlled layers of the skin to create a smoother more attractive appearance. The laser can provide good shrinkage of the skin, creating a tighter, more lifted appearance.
After treatement the skin will be red and oozing and swelling will occur for 3-10 days. Meticulous wound care will need to be followed. Make-up can usually be applied 1-2 weeks after treatment. Healing is usually 1-2 weeks, but persistent redness may be seen for a few months after the treatment.
Oftentimes laser resurfacing is performed with blepharoplasty (eyelid lift), facelift, rhinoplasty, cheek implants, etc. can be performed at the same time.
