The eyelids must always be evaluated along with the brows. These procedures overlap somewhat but are fundamentally two different things. An eyelift (blepharoplasty) removes excess skin between the brows and eyelashes. A brow lift elevates the brow, and in so doing will tighten the skin between the brow and eyelash. Since these two conditions often exist at the same time, Dr. Teitelbaum frequently performs the eyelift and brow lift together when there is an obvious and significant issue with each. But when the problem is subtler, Dr. Teitelbaum will do whichever of the problems is more significant and then evaluate later whether the other procedure is necessary. It is very important to be careful when these are done together because the surgeon must always be sure that the eyes can close well after these procedures.
