While most people with prominent ears are recognized and treated as children, many go on to adulthood with their issue untreated. Long hair conceals the ears in many young girls, and unless the ears protruded out from their hair it may not have been noticed. Such girls may have wanted to wear their hair back but never did because they did not like the way they looked that way.

By their twenties, women and men have figured out that their ears can be a concern to them. With the resources and independence to make those decisions, ear surgery is common from the mid-twenties on. It is even a procedure that is sometimes done on an older woman in combination with a facelift.

It never ceases to amaze Dr. Teitelbaum just how thrilled many women are to finally be able to wear their hair back. Hearing those stories over and over again only adds to his joy in performing this operation.
